Position:
Assistant Technical Director
Reports
to: Technical Director/Theatre Manager
GENERAL
DUTIES
- Operate all audio-visual equipment,
and other theatre-related equipment, of the David and Dorothea Garfield
Theatre and the Jewish Community Center facilities.
- Assist the Technical Director
and the Theatre Manager in the execution of their duties in operation
of 500-seat performing arts complex and banquet facility.
- Serve as Building Supervisor
after normal hours of operation, during assigned theatrical productions
and rental events.
SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Audio Engineer's primary duty
shall be to Design, Engineer and operate all audio equipment for live
performances.
- Supervise theatre crews and
volunteers for theatre production, performances and special events.
- Consult with technical Director,
Producer, or Presenter to facilitate sound design as appropriate.
- In absence of Technical Director,
be Responsible for resolving all technical issues and/or emergencies
that arise in the Theatre during a production or rental event.
- Operate video equipment, light
board and other theatrical equipment when necessary.
- Help manage all audio-visual
equipment of the DDG Theatre and the Jewish Community Center Facilities.
- Have up-to-date knowledge of
all the audio-visual equipment utilized in the DDG Theatre and throughout
the JCC facilities.
- Maintenance and control of all
Audio equipment.
- Arrange for setup of all equipment
as required.
- Supervise overhire staff and
train others as needed and deemed appropriate in use of equipment.
- Attend required staff meetings.
- Serve as Building Supervisor
after normal hours of operation, during assigned theatrical productions
and rental events.
- Operate facility HVAC to insure
comfort of guests, clients, and staff during performances and events.
- Enforce all LFJCC Safety and
Security requirements.
- Conduct building inspection
and lock-down upon completion of programs or events. Set security alarms,
when required.
- Responsible for handling all
issues and/or emergencies that arise in the building or upon the premises
during shift.
ESSENTIAL
SKILL FACTORS
A thorough understanding of Sound Equipment and Audio Design
The ability to mix live sound for music concerts and musical theatre.
The ability to trouble shoot sound related problems quickly.
Competent working knowledge of computers and PowerPoint presentations.
Basic understanding of Theatre lighting and stage equipment.
Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks.
Ability to respond confidently and promptly to stressful situations.
Excellent customer-service skills.
Ability to communicate rationally, persuasively, and diplomatically
with diverse groups of people.
SUPPLEMENTARY
SKILL FACTORS
- Ability to use power tools,
such as table saw and drill.
- A basic understanding of theatrical
carpentry.
- A basic understanding of theatrical
rigging.
SCHEDULE
OF WORK HOURS
Forty hours per week. Schedule varies due to operational needs. Numerous
evenings and weekends required.
