THE NEW CHILDREN'S MUSEUM Job Description Studio Arts Assistant DEPARTMENT : Exhibitions and Programs REPORTS TO: Director of Studio Arts TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time, non-exempt; Occasional weekend work. RESPONSIBILITIES · Coordinate training and scheduling of studio facilitators · Responsible for insuring that studios are appropriately staffed during Musuem hours and when designated for special events · Train and schedule studio facilitators · Track studios' budgets · Order and stock all supplies for all studios · Coordinate communication between the Studio Arts Department and the rest of the Museum staff · Work as studio facilitator as time permits · Facilitate all studios' projects · Draft newsletter copy for Studio Arts team; responsible for implementation of “art project” featured in each newsletter · Process incoming departmental mail · Update studio contacts list on an ongoing basis · Additional duties as required QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in arts related area of study. Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience in a museum or arts center in an administrative capacity. Must be committed, and sensitive, to working with children. P roven experience in visual art or art museum education, a knowledge of and/or openness to contemporary art, and the ability to communicate in a positive manner with diverse audiences, including other staff members, volunteers and the general public. M ust be able to work in a demanding environment, requiring flexibility and creative problem solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
